Learn how to make accessible Word Documents using their resources.
Templates
Access the accessible Word document template.
- Set Arial as your default font or the template won’t work properly.
- Delete all explanatory text if you’re ready to use the template on your own.
Access the letterhead template with headings.
- Set Arial as your default font or the template won’t work properly.
- Use this if you want your document to look like letterhead but have sections created with headings.
- Update both the hidden H1 and the document title under File > Properties .
Access the memorandum letterhead template.
- Set Arial as your default font or the template won’t work properly.
- This template hides the H1, because titles are not usually included in memorandums.
- Update both the hidden H1 and the document title under File > Properties .
Practice Documents
#1 Hosting Events at UTA
Instructions: This example document doesn’t have tagged headings and is in the wrong format per UTA standards.
- Download the example document.
- Download the template.
- Reformat the essay on the template. Add headings and use best practices.
Reminders: Remember to strip out formatting from the source document by converting the text to plain text before pasting it into the template. (If you do not do this, you will have a mix of fonts in the Styles pane and that makes it more confusing.)
Remember to set the document title under File > Properties to match the heading 1.
Shortcut: This document already has headings, but they are not correctly tagged using the Styles pane.
