Form design requires both knowledge of Adobe InDesign to design the appearance of the form and Adobe Acrobat to set up the functionality of the form. When used properly, both tools ensure the form is accessible. Other routing tools, such as Adobe Sign, also require specialized knowledge.

InDesign Accessibility Training

Form design builds upon the requirements for accessible InDesign documents. Make sure to complete the following courses first:

  1. Inclusive and Accessible Content Course
  2. Accessible Colors Course
  3. Accessible Documents with InDesign Course

Adobe Acrobat Training

Adobe Sign Training

“Adobe Sign” has been renamed a few times (Adobe Sign; Adobe Acrobat Sign Solutions; Acrobat Sign) but at UTA, we just refer to it as “Adobe Sign.”

Adobe Sign automatically routes forms from one user to the next to gather information and signatures on PDF forms. It is not part of Adobe Creative Cloud, but a different paid platform for teams or enterprise license.

It is NOT a form design tool, though it does have form design functions within it. Accessible forms should always be designed with a combination of InDesign and Acrobat before they are added to Adobe Sign.

Not all field types work in this tool – some only work in Acrobat. (See the FAQ.)
